It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed it has been revealed to me that whoever recites (this verse of Surah al-Kahf): 'So whoever hopes for the meeting with his Lord, let him do righteous deeds and not associate anyone in the worship of his Lord' [Surah al-Kahf: 110], a light will be lit for him spanning the distance from Aden Abyan to Makkah, filled with angels."
Ishaq bin Rahwayh recorded this hadith in his Musnad, in whose chain al-Nadr bin Shumayl transmitted it from Abu Qurrah al-Asadi al-Saydawi, and he through Sa'id bin al-Musayyib.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, grants a servant a blessing in the form of family, wealth or children, and he says (in gratitude): 'Ma sha' Allah, la quwwata illa billah' (What Allah wills [comes to pass]; there is no power except with Allah), he will see no affliction in it other than death." And he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to cite this noble verse in support of it: "And why, when you entered your garden, did you not say: What Allah wills [comes to pass]; there is no power except with Allah" [Surah al-Kahf: 39].
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever sees something that pleases him and says: 'Ma sha' Allah, la quwwata illa billah' (What Allah wills [comes to pass]; there is no power except with Allah), it will not harm him."
The hadith concerning the revelation of this saying of Allah Almighty: "And do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance" [Surah al-Kahf: 28] has already been mentioned under Surah al-An'am.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw the sun as it was setting, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It (sets) in the intensely hot, blazing fire of Allah. Were it not that the command of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, restrains it and holds it back, it would destroy everything upon the earth."
Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah, Ahmad bin Mani' and Abu Ya'la narrated this hadith through the chain of Yazid bin Harun, in which a mawla (freed slave) of Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) is a narrator; this report is also found in the Musnad of Ahmad.

Ishaq bin Abi Isra'il narrates from Hisham bin Yusuf, and he, in the exegesis of Ibn Jurayj, concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: "And he found near it a people" [Surah al-Kahf: 86], that he said: "It is a city with twelve thousand gates. Were it not for the noise of its inhabitants, people would surely hear the crackling and roaring sound of the sun as it sets."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said (describing the condition of a people mentioned in the Qur'an): "They had no built shelter or dwelling (to protect them from the sun). No building had ever been built in that land at all, nor had any roof ever been put up over those people there. Their condition was such that when the sun rose they would enter their underground tunnels, and they would remain there until the sun passed its zenith."
This hadith is narrated in al-Mustadrak of al-Hakim; al-Hakim declared it sahih in its chain, and al-Dhahabi agreed with him.
