Surah al-Isra

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this word on the blessed tongue of your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in this way: 'wa wassa rabbuka alla ta'budu illa iyyahu', meaning: 'And your Lord has enjoined that you worship none but Him.' Then (in the script) one of the two letters 'waw' became joined to the other, because of which people recited it to us in this way: "And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him" [Surah al-Isra': 23]. Yet if this command had been revealed as a definitive, cosmic decree (qada'), no one would have associated partners with Allah (because Allah's cosmic decree is unalterable)." Maymun bin Mihran (may Allah have mercy on him) used to say: "Indeed, there is a special light of truth upon this interpretation," and the saying of Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, is: "He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Nuh" [Surah al-Shura: 13].
Imam Ahmad bin Mani' narrated it. Its chain contains a narrator named Furat bin al-Sa'ib, who is weak, while the authentic and mutawatir (mass-transmitted) reading of the Noble Qur'an is "wa qada", which here means "amara", that is, to command.

It is narrated from Imam Amir al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) concerning this saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "And We certainly gave Musa nine clear signs" [Surah al-Isra': 101], that he said: "What is meant by these nine clear signs is the (shining) hand of Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him), his staff, the years of famine, the flood, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, the blood, and the decrease in the yield of fruits."
Takhrij: Imam Musaddad bin Musarhad narrated this report in his Musnad, and its chain is sahih (authentic).

It is narrated from Abu Salih and Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on them both) concerning the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "And We certainly gave Musa nine clear signs" [Surah al-Isra': 101], that they said: "What is meant by these nine signs is the years of famine in which rain was withheld from them, the decrease in the yield of fruits, the flood, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, the blood, the staff of Musa (peace be upon him) and his shining hand."
Imam Ahmad bin Mani' narrated this report in his Musnad.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: "And do not be loud in your prayer, nor be silent in it" [Surah al-Isra: 110], that he said: "People used to raise their voices while making supplication, calling out 'Allahumma irhamni' (O Allah, have mercy on me). So when this blessed verse was revealed, they were ordered neither to call out too loudly (in supplication and recitation) nor to be completely silent."
(152) Also, the hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning the revelation of three verses, including this saying of Allah Almighty: "And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them" [Surah al-Isra: 59], will come, if Allah Almighty wills, in the exegesis of Surah al-Shu'ara.
