It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Caution and advance precaution are of no benefit against the decree, but supplication averts (a decreed calamity)."
The narrator al-Mulayki in this report is da'if (weak), and moreover Makhul's hearing (meeting and hearing) from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) is not established.
Imam Ahmad narrated it with different wording through the narration of Isma'il bin Ayyash, which he transmitted from Ibn Abi Husayn, from Shahr bin Hawshab, from Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Hassan bin Atiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: "If a monk (a secluded Christian worshipper) supplicates for you, there is no harm in saying Amin to his supplication." He also said: "Indeed, their supplications in our favour (the people of faith) attain acceptance in the court of Allah, but their supplications for their own selves are not accepted."
Imam Ishaq bin Rahwayh narrated this athar (report) in his Musnad, and its chain is sahih (authentic).
