It is narrated from Wahb bin Munabbih that he asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Is there any taghut (an extreme transgressor or one who calls to falsehood) among those who pray?" He replied: "No." Then I asked him: "Is there any polytheist among them?" He replied: "No."
Al-Harith bin Abi Usamah recorded this narration in his Musnad, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Abu Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him) relates: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) at the time when he was residing in Makkah and staying among the tribe of Banu Fihr. Meanwhile a man asked him: "Did you (people) call anyone of the people of the qiblah (the Muslims) a polytheist?" He replied (expressing extreme displeasure): 'Ma'adh Allah' (Allah forbid!), and he became very alarmed at the gravity of this question. Then I asked: "Did you call any of them a disbeliever?" He said: "No."
This report is sahih (authentic) and mawquf (a Companion's statement).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that (Yazid al-Raqashi) said to him: "O Abu Hamzah! Some people testify against us with disbelief and polytheism (that is, they declare us disbelievers and polytheists)?" Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said (in reply): "Those are the worst and most wicked in the whole universe and of all creation."
The chain of this hadith contains the narrator Yazid bin Aban al-Raqashi, who is da'if (weak); however, this theme concerning the traits of the Khawarij is also narrated in other reliable and authentic hadiths.
