It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever attributes his lineage to someone other than his father, or, turning away from his true patrons and benefactors, attributes himself to someone else, upon him is the curse of Allah Almighty; and whoever abuses his father or his parents, the same ruling applies to him."
Musnad Abi Ya'la: 2552; Imam al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) graded the text of this report sahih; see: Sahih al-Jami' al-Saghir: 6140.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had two freed slaves, one of Abyssinian origin and the other of Nabataean descent. The two of them reviled and abused each other (over some matter) while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was listening (to their quarrel). One of them said to his companion (as a taunt): "O Abyssinian!" and the other said (in reply): "O Nabataean!" So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (forbidding them from this racial partisanship and ignorant distinction) said: "Never say such things; the truth is that you are both two men from among the Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)."
Imam Ahmad narrated this hadith in his Musnad (12562) and Imam Abu Ya'la in (3662); because of criticism of the memory of the narrator Yazid bin Abi Ziyad in its chain, it is da'if (weak); however, the meaning and content of the hadith are fully in accord with other sahih texts concerning the prohibition of racial boasting.
