It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) concerning a man who buys a slave-girl on the condition that he will neither sell her nor give her away as a gift. She said: "I dislike that, and I dislike the condition."

It is narrated from Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), that she said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave me a maidservant to serve me. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) asked me: "Will you sell her?" She said: I replied: "I will never sell you a maidservant whom the Commander of the Believers gave me for my service." He kept insisting with her until he bought the maidservant from her, and stipulated for her that this maidservant would continue to serve her until she bought another maidservant. Then an informer who went about carrying news told Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) about it, so he came to him in the evening or the morning, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "It has reached me that you have bought Zaynab's slave-girl!" He said: "Yes." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Do not go near her at all while someone else still has a right of service in her." Imam al-Bayhaqi narrated it through Abd al-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Utbah from Muhammad bin Amr bin al-Harith bin Abi Dirar, who said that Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) a slave-girl from the khums (one-fifth share of the spoils); then the narrator mentioned something similar.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he bought a she-camel from two men of al-Nakha', and stipulated that the payment would be to their satisfaction. Then he brought them to his house and took out a purse of money, and the two of them quarrelled over it; then he took out another purse, and they quarrelled again. At this Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'A'udhu billahi minkuma' (I seek refuge in Allah from you both); then the narrator mentioned the whole hadith. In another narration: Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) bought a she-camel from a man for four hundred dirhams, and stipulated that the payment would be to his satisfaction. The man brought with him a man from Isfahan who was more expert in weighing. Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) took out a purse before him and he accepted most of it; then he accepted the second and third purses in the same way. Then Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'A'udhu billahi minkuma' (I seek refuge in Allah from you both); then the narrator related the whole hadith.
