It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qays bin Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) that at the time of his death he advised his sons, saying: "I advise you to be mindful of Allah." Then the narrator mentioned the full hadith, in which these words occur: "And beware of begging (asking people), for it is the last and worst means of a person's earning."
Its chain is jayyid (good), and this report is mawquf. Imam Abu Ya'la has also mentioned a hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Qays bin Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) in which it is recorded: "And beware of asking, for it is the lowest level of a person's earning, and indeed whoever stretches out his hand before people loses the dignity and honour of his face in exchange for that earning."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whenever sadaqah (that is, zakah wealth) mixes with any wealth, it destroys and ruins it."
Imam al-Humaydi, Ibn Abi Umar and al-Bazzar have recorded this report through different chains. I (Ibn Hajar) say: The name occurs like this (in al-Bazzar's chain), and I think it has been inverted and distorted, for Imam Ibn Adi said in the biography of Muhammad bin Uthman that Muhammad bin Uthman is alone in narrating this report from Hisham. At the end of the hadith in al-Humaydi's version, its explanation is given thus: that zakah has become due on your wealth which you must pay out, and you do not pay it, so this unlawful portion (the unpaid zakah) destroys your lawful wealth as well. This is an explanation of what the report means, and as it appears to me this is the speech of Imam al-Humaydi, though it is also possible that it is the saying of a narrator above him. Another possibility, which is reported from Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal, is that a rich and wealthy person (wrongly) takes zakah wealth and adds it to his own wealth, so it destroys it; and it is relying on this view that I have placed this hadith in this chapter.
