It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibril (peace be upon him) came to me with a white mirror in which there was a black spot. I said: 'What is this?' He said: 'This is Friday; in it there is an hour.'"
In another narration it is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The days were presented to me, and among them Friday was presented to me, and it was like a beautiful mirror, and in its middle there was a black spot. I said: 'What is this blackness?' He said: 'This is the hour.'"
In another narration it is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibril (peace be upon him) came to me with Friday, and it was like a white mirror with something like a black spot in it. I said: 'O Jibril, what is this?' He said: 'This is Friday.' I said: 'And what is Friday?' He said: 'There is good for you in it.' I said: 'And what is there for us in it?' He said: 'It will be a festival (Eid) for you and for your people after you, and the Jews and the Christians will follow behind you in it.' I said: 'And what (else) is there for us in it?' He said: 'For you there is an hour in it; no Muslim servant coincides with it, asking Allah Almighty in it for anything of the affairs of this world and the Hereafter, except that Allah gives it to him, if it is in his portion; otherwise He stores up for him with Himself what is better than it, if it is not in his portion; or (if) he seeks refuge with Him in it from an evil that is written against him, He averts from him an affliction greater than it.' I said: 'And why is that?' He said: 'Because your Lord, the Blessed and Exalted, has made in Paradise a valley of white musk. When it is the Day of Resurrection, He will descend from 'Illiyyin onto His Kursi (Footstool); then the Kursi will be surrounded by pulpits of gold crowned with jewels; then the Prophets will be brought and they will sit on them; then the pulpits will be surrounded by chairs of light; then the martyrs will be brought until they sit on them; and the people of the lofty chambers will come down and sit on the dune (of musk). Then their Lord will manifest Himself to them, and then He will say: Ask of Me, I will give you. They will ask Him for His good pleasure, and He will say: It is My good pleasure that has settled you in My abode, and I grant you My honour; so ask of Me, I will give you. They will (again) ask Him for His good pleasure, and He will make them witness that He is pleased with them.'"
It was said: Then there will be opened for them "what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and has never occurred to the heart of any human being." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And that (time) is the length of your returning from the Friday (prayer)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then the Prophets, the truthful (Siddiqun) and the martyrs will rise with Him, and the people of the lofty chambers will return to their chambers, which are of white pearl, or red pearl, or green chrysolite; from it are their rooms and their doors; their rivers flow, their fruits are high and hanging low; there is no grief in them and no worry." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "So they are not more in need of anything than of Friday, so that they may increase in beholding their Lord and increase in honour from Him."
In the narration of Imam Abu Ya'la it is narrated similarly from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), and in it: "And among us we call it the Day of Increase (Yawm al-Mazid). I said: 'What is al-Mazid?' He said: 'Allah Almighty has made in Paradise a spacious valley and placed dunes of musk in it. When it is Friday, He descends into it and says: Clothe My servants, feed My servants, give drink to My servants, perfume My servants. Then He says: What do you want? They say: We want Your good pleasure, our Lord. He says: I am pleased with you. Then they depart, and the wide-eyed houris ascend to the chambers of green chrysolite or red ruby.'"
Through this chain the hadith ends here, and what comes after it is not mentioned; and its chain is better (ajwad) than the first.
In the narration of Imam al-Harith it is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The five prayers, and from one Friday to the next, are expiations for what is between them, as long as major sins are avoided." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, does Friday expiate (sins) until the (next) Friday?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, and three more days besides. And in it there is an hour that no Muslim servant coincides with, asking Allah Almighty for good in it, except that He gives it to him. And the days were presented to me, and I saw Friday among them as though it were a mirror of splendour and light, and it pleased me; then I saw a black spot in it, so I asked Jibril (peace be upon him), and he said: 'It is the hour in which the Resurrection will be established.'"

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed the day of Friday and the night of Friday consist of twenty-four hours; there is not a single hour among them in which Allah Almighty does not free six hundred people from the Fire of Hell." The narrator relates: Then we left there and came to Imam Hasan al-Basri and mentioned to him the hadith related by Thabit. He said: I too have heard this hadith, and he added to it: "All of them had become deserving of the Fire of Hell."
According to another chain of Imam Abu Ya'la, the like of it is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), except that in it are the words: "Six hundred thousand people are freed from Hell," and at the end of this narration it is mentioned that one of the two narrators said: "All of them had become deserving of the Fire."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Fatimah, daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that she related: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Indeed on Friday there is an hour; no Muslim servant supplicates to Allah Almighty for any good at that time except that his supplication is answered." At this Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O Messenger of Allah, which time is it?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the sun begins to decline for setting." So Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) used to say to a slave of hers named Arbad: "Climb up onto the hillocks, and when you see that the sun has come close to setting, inform me." He would inform her, and she (may Allah be pleased with her) would stand at her place of prayer and remain continuously occupied in supplication until the sun set, then she would pray.
I (Ibn Hajar) say: Zayd did not meet Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), and Sa'id bin Rashid is a very weak (wahin) narrator.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "It has reached me that you say: 'From one Friday to the next, and the five prayers, are expiation for the sins between them, for one who avoids the major sins?'" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes (that is correct)." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) added to it, saying: "Taking a ritual bath (ghusl) on Friday is an expiation of sins, and walking to the Friday prayer is also an expiation; for every step of it there is the reward of twenty years of good deeds, and when he finishes the Friday prayer he is rewarded with the equivalent of two hundred years of deeds."
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever takes a ritual bath (ghusl) on Friday, his sins and errors are wiped away; then when he begins walking towards the mosque, he receives for every step the reward of twenty years of deeds; and when he finishes the Friday prayer, he is granted the reward of two hundred years of worship." Imam Ishaq bin Rahwayh said that al-Dahhak bin Humrah is thiqah (trustworthy) in hadith, and Imam Ahmad narrated it in al-Zuhd.

It is narrated from Imam Ibn Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) that he considered it recommended and preferable that a person not let any hadath (i.e. a state of ritual impurity breaking ablution) come between the ritual bath taken for Friday and the performance of the Friday prayer, and he used to cite as evidence that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you comes to the Friday prayer, let him take a ritual bath (ghusl)."
The basis of this hadith is found in the two Sahihs (Bukhari and Muslim), and it indicates the emphasis on the Friday ritual bath and on taking care of complete purity and cleanliness for the prayer.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he was asked about the blessed hour that occurs on Friday (for acceptance), and he replied: "Allah knows best. Indeed, Allah Almighty created Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) on Friday after Asr, and He created him from a handful of soil which He took from the surface of the whole earth. Do you not observe that among his descendants some are of red complexion, some black, some wicked and impure, and some good and pure? Then Allah, Lord of Might, took a covenant from him, but he forgot it, and because of this forgetfulness he was named insan (human). By Allah, the sun had not yet set on that day before he was sent down to the world."
Imam Musaddad narrated it; all the narrators of its chain are thiqat (trustworthy), and it is a sahih mawquf narration.
