Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 850 — Expelling wailing women from houses

It is narrated from Sa'id bin al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) that when Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, the women began weeping over him. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said that the deceased is punished because of the weeping of the living." But they would not stop weeping. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Hisham bin al-Walid: "Get up and take these women out." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) wanted to stop him, so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Go in, I have given you permission." When he went in, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "My son, will you take me out too?" He replied: "Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) has given you permission." Then he went on taking the other women out one by one, while Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) kept admonishing them with his whip, until Umm Farwah also came out and the wailing women were dispersed.
I (Ibn Hajar) say: The marfu' part of this narration (the Prophet's words) is recorded in the books of hadith. Imam Ahmad narrated from Abd al-Razzaq with this same chain only the marfu' part, while Imam Bukhari alluded to this incident in mu'allaq (suspended) form.
