حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ هُوَ ابْنُ وَكِيعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ الرَّقَاشِيُّ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - قَالَ : قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - خَطِيبًا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، فَقَالَ : عَسَى رَجُلٌ تَحْضُرُهُ الْجُمُعَةُ وَهُوَ عَلَى قَدْرِ مِيلٍ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَلَا يَحْضُرُهَا . ثُمَّ قَالَ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ : وَهُوَ عَلَى قَدْرِ مِيلَيْنِ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَلَا يَحْضُرُهَا . ثُمَّ قَالَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ : وَهُوَ عَلَى قَدْرِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَمْيَالٍ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَلَا يَحْضُرُ الْجُمُعَةَ ، وَيَطْبَعُ اللهُ عَلَى قَلْبِهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to deliver the sermon on Friday and said: "It often happens that the time of the Friday prayer comes upon a man while he is only a mile away from Madinah, and he does not attend it." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said the second time: "He is two miles away from Madinah, and he does not attend it." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said the third time: "He is three miles away from Madinah, and he does not attend the Friday prayer, so Allah Almighty places a seal on his heart."
