It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Of the people of my Ummah, the most compassionate and kind towards my Ummah is Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him); the sternest and firmest of them in the matter of the religion of Islam is Umar (may Allah be pleased with him); the most true and steadfast in modesty is Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him); the one possessing the most excellence among them all is Ali (may Allah be pleased with him); the most expert in the knowledge of fara'id, that is, inheritance, is Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him); the most knowledgeable of the rulings of the lawful and the unlawful is Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him); the greatest reciter of the Qur'an is Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him); and remember that every Ummah has an amin, that is, a most reliable and trustworthy person, and the amin of this Ummah is Abu Ubaydah (may Allah be pleased with him)."
In the chain of this hadith the narrator named Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman bin al-Baylamani is da'if (weak); however, most parts of this narration are reported in other books of hadith with sahih and reliable chains.
