It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Hadrami (may Allah be pleased with him), who was one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that a Bedouin met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), asking him about the legal ruling on relieving oneself. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you clean yourself (istinja'), do not face the qiblah nor turn your back towards it." He said: O Messenger of Allah, then how should I do it? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Use two stones sideways (right and left), and add the third to them (to complete the purification)." (The narrator of this narration) Yusuf is matruk (abandoned).
