It is narrated from Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to pitch two tents: one tent outside the boundaries of the Haram, in the area of the Hill, and the other within the boundaries of the Haram. It was said to him: "Would that you stayed (in Makkah itself) with your cousin and your family?" He replied: "Indeed, Makkah is 'Bakkah' (a place of crowding and great congestion), and we have been informed that part of ilhad (transgressing the limits set by Allah and sinning) within the boundaries of the Haram of Makkah is that a person says (swearing oaths over trivial matters): 'Kalla wallahi' (Certainly not, by Allah!) and 'Bala wallahi' (Of course, by Allah!)."
This report is mawquf, and its chain is sahih.
(154) The saying of Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him), "Let the desert dweller or nomad camp wherever he wishes," has already been mentioned at the beginning of the Book of Hajj.
