It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Shall I not teach you words such that whoever Allah Almighty intends good for, He teaches him these words, and then he never forgets them? (The supplication is:) 'Allahumma inni da'ifun fa-qawwi fi ridaka da'fi, wa khudh ila al-khayri bi-nasiyati, waj'al al-islama muntaha ridaya, Allahumma inni da'ifun fa-qawwini, wa dhalilun fa-a'izzani, wa faqirun farzuqni' (O Allah, indeed I am (by nature) weak, so strengthen this weakness of mine in the deeds that earn Your pleasure and good-pleasure; take me by my forelock and lead me towards goodness; and make Islam the utmost limit of my desire and liking. O Allah, I am weak, so give me strength; I am lowly and humble, so honour me with dignity; and I am poor and needy, so grant me provision)."
Imam Abu Ya'la also narrated the same through his chain from al-Ala'.
