It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended one step of the pulpit and said: "Amin." Then he ascended the second step and said: "Amin." Then he mounted the third step and said: "Amin." Then, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had settled on the pulpit and sat down, his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Prophet of Allah, upon what did you say Amin? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibril (peace be upon him) came to me and said (invoking against them): 'May the nose of the man be rubbed in the dust (may he be humiliated) who found his parents, or one of them, (in their old age) and did not enter Paradise (by serving them).' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I said: 'Amin (O Allah, accept it).' Then he said: 'And may the nose of the person be rubbed in the dust who found the month of Ramadan and (did not benefit from its blessings, until) he was not forgiven.' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I said: 'Amin (O Allah, accept it).' Then he said: 'And may the nose of the person be rubbed in the dust in whose presence you were mentioned but he did not send blessings upon you.' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I said: 'Amin (O Allah, accept it).'"
