وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ ، ثَنَا سَلَمَةُ هُوَ ابْنُ وَرْدَانَ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ يَتَبَرَّزُ فَلَمْ يَجِدْ رَجُلًا يَتْبَعُهُ ، فَفَزِعَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَاتَّبَعَهُ بِفَخَّارَةٍ ، وَمَطْهَرَةٍ ، فَوَجَدَهُ سَاجِدًا فِي مَشْرُبَةٍ لَهُ ، فَتَنَحَّى فَجَلَسَ وَرَاءَهُ حَتَّى رَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ : " أَحْسَنْتَ يَا عُمَرُ ، حَيْثُ وَجَدْتَنِي سَاجِدًا فَتَنَحَّيْتَ عَنِّي ، إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ أَتَانِي فَقَالَ : مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ وَاحِدَةً صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرًا وَرَفَعَهُ عَشْرَ دَرَجَاتٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went out to relieve himself, and there was no one behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) (to attend to him). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) became concerned and followed him (peace and blessings be upon him), carrying water in an earthenware vessel and a vessel for ablution. He found him (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrating in one of his small gardens, so he moved aside and sat behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his blessed head and said: "O Umar, you did very well when, seeing me in prostration, you moved aside from me. Truly, Jibril (peace be upon him) came to me and told me: Whoever sends blessings upon you once, Allah Almighty will send down ten mercies upon him and raise him ten degrees."
