It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came out to the people and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever, attributing it to me, says something that I did not say, let him take his seat in the Fire of Hell."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), and Imam Ahmad recorded it in his Musnad; in it a severe warning is stated for attributing falsehood to him (peace and blessings be upon him).
