وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، حَدَّثَنِي كَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ جَدِّي ، أَوْ قَالَ : عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ . قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : مَنْ أَحْيَا سُنَّةً مِنْ سُنَّتِي فَعَمِلُوا بِهَا النَّاسُ ، كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا لَا يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْئًا ، وَمَنِ ابْتَدَعَ فَعُمِلَ بِهَا كَانَ عَلَيْهِ أَوْزَارُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا لَا يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَوْزَارِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا شَيْئًا .
3076 \ 2 - وَقَالَ عَبْدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ بِهِ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever revives one of my Sunnahs and people act upon it, he will have the like of the reward of all those who act upon it, without their reward being reduced in the least. And whoever invents an innovation that is acted upon, he will bear the burden of the sins of all those who act upon it, without anything being reduced from the burden of the sins of those who act upon it."
Imam Abu Bakr and Abd bin Humayd narrated this hadith through the chain of Zayd bin al-Hubab.
