وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الْقُرَشِيُّ ، ثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ قَالَ : إِنَّهُ كَانَ يَرَى ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا مَحْلُولَ زِرِّ قَمِيصِهِ فَسُئِلَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُهُ .
It is narrated from Zayd bin Aslam that he used to see Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) often in a state in which the button of his shirt was open. So when he was asked about it, he replied: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) doing likewise (keeping the button open)."
[Takhrij: Musnad Abi Ya'la: 3075. This hadith is also found in brief in Sahih Ibn Hibban (5439) and Sunan Abi Dawud (4082). The men of its chain are thiqat (trustworthy) except Zuhayr bin Muhammad, whose narration from the people of Syria has been criticised; however, it has corroborating chains and supporting reports.]
