It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever bears witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah, his blood (shedding it) has been made forbidden to me, except for three kinds of people: the one who abandons his religion (the apostate), the married person who commits adultery, and the one who has killed a soul unjustly."
In the chain of this hadith, Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla is da'if (weak) on account of his poor memory; however, the text of this report is also narrated through other sahih chains in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.
