وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا ، وَيُوَقِّرْ كَبِيرَنَا ، فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not of us (of the complete way of the Muslims) who does not show compassion and kindness to our young and does not show respect and honour to our elders."
Imam al-Harith recorded it in his Musnad, and other authentic narrations on this subject, found in Sunan al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud, support it.
