Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 2611 — Prohibition of anger

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and submitted: "O Messenger of Allah, teach me a (comprehensive) deed by which I may enter Paradise, and keep it brief (so that I can easily remember it)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not become angry."
I (Ibn Hajar) say: All the narrators of this hadith are narrators of the Sahih (al-Bukhari and Muslim), but this report is technically "shadhdh" (anomalous), because the preserved and authentic position is that this report is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), not from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him); and it is transmitted likewise (that is, from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him)) in Sahih al-Bukhari.
