[وَ] قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، ثَنَا أَبُو حَيَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُجَمِّعٌ ، [قَالَ] : إِنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ كَانَ يَكْنُسُ بَيْتَ الْمَالِ ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي فِيهِ رَجُلَانِ يَشْهَدَانِ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَحْبِسْ فِيهِ الْمَالَ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ " .
It is narrated from Mujammi' (may Allah have mercy on him) that "Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would himself sweep the public treasury (bayt al-mal); then two men would pray in that place, bearing witness that he had not held back the Muslims' wealth in it (without distributing it)."
