It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Qa'qa' bin Abi Hadrad al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by some people of the tribe of Aslam who were competing in archery, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Children of Isma'il! Shoot, for your forefather was also an archer, and I am with Ibn al-Akwa'." At that the people held back their hands, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is wrong with you; why are you not shooting?" They said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! How can we compete when you (peace and blessings be upon him) have said, "I am with Ibn al-Akwa'," and we know that the group you (peace and blessings be upon him) are with can never be defeated? So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep on shooting; I am with all of you."
