وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ عَلَى أُنَاسٍ يَرْمُونَ ، فَقَالَ : خُذُوا وَأَنَا مَعَ ابْنِ الْأَدْرَعِ . فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، نَأْخُذُ وَأَنْتَ مَعَ بَعْضِنَا دُونَ بَعْضٍ ؟ فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : خُذُوا وَأَنَا مَعَكُمْ يَا بَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by some people who were practising archery, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said (encouraging the contest): "Shoot, and I am with Ibn al-Adra'." They said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! How can we compete in archery when you are with one group of us and not the other?" So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Children of Isma'il! Shoot, all of you; I am with all of you."
