عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا أَجَلُكُمْ فِيمَا خَلَا مِنَ الْأُمَمِ كَمَا بَيْنَ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى مَغْرِبِ الشَّمْسِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الثَّلَاثَةِ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الْكَبِيرِ : كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَالشَّمْسُ عَلَى قُعَيْقِعَانٍ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا أَعْمَارُكُمْ فِي أَعْمَارِ مَنْ مَضَى إِلَّا كَمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ هَذَا النَّهَارِ فِيمَا مَضَى مِنْهُ " . وَرِجَالُ الصَّغِيرِ ، وَالْأَوْسَطِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ ، وَفِي أَحَدِ إِسْنَادَيِ الْكَبِيرِ شَرِيكٌ ، وَقَدْ وُثِّقَ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your term compared with the nations before you is like the time between the Asr prayer and sunset."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in all three books; however, in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir his wording is: The narrator says: We were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and after Asr the sun was over (the mountain named) Qu'ayqi'an. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your lifespans compared with the lifespans of those who have passed are like what remains of the day compared with what has passed of it." The narrators of al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat are the narrators of the Sahih, and one of the two chains of al-Kabir contains Sharik, who has been declared trustworthy; the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.

وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - خَطَبَ أَصْحَابَهُ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَقَدْ كَادَتِ الشَّمْسُ أَنْ تَغْرُبَ ، فَلَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْهَا إِلَّا شَفٌّ يَسِيرٌ ، فَقَالَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، مَا بَقِيَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا فِيمَا مَضَى مِنْهَا إِلَّا كَمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِيمَا مَضَى مِنْهُ " . وَمَا نَرَى الشَّمْسَ إِلَّا يَسِيرًا . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ مِنْ طَرِيقِ خَلَفِ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، وَقَدْ وُثِّقَا ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed his Companions when the sun was about to set and only a little time remained. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in whose Hand is my soul, compared with what has passed, only as much of this world remains as remains of this day of yours compared with what has passed of it." The narrator says: We could see only a little of the sun.

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَنَظَرَ إِلَى الشَّمْسِ عِنْدَ غُرُوبِهَا عَلَى أَطْرَافِ سَعَفِ النَّخْلِ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا بَقِيَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا فِيمَا مَضَى مِنْهَا إِلَّا مِثْلُ مَا بَقِيَ مِنْ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِيمَا مَضَى مِنْهُ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
