Sayyiduna Abu Asib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out at night. He passed by me and called me, and I came out to him. Then he passed by Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and called him, and he came out to him. Then he passed by Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and called him, and he came out to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept walking until he entered a garden belonging to one of the Ansar. He said to the owner of the garden: "Feed us fresh dates." He brought a bunch of dates and placed it before them, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions began eating them. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for cold water, and it was drunk. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection you will be called to account for these." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took that bunch and struck it on the ground until its dates scattered towards the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he said: O Messenger of Allah! Will we be called to account for these on the Day of Resurrection? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! Except for three things: the cloth with which a man covers his private parts, or the piece of bread with which he ends his hunger, or the dwelling which he enters to protect himself from heat or cold (that is, in which he lives)."
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Clothing beyond the waist-wrap, the shade of a wall and a water jar are extra things; on the Day of Resurrection the servant will be called to account for them (the narrator is in doubt, or perhaps the words are:) he will be questioned about them."
Imam al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Layth bin Abi Sulaym, who has been declared trustworthy despite his weakness. The remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih, except al-Qasim bin Muhammad bin Yahya al-Marwazi, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
