Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever the sun rises, two angels are with it who make an announcement, and all the people of the earth except the two groups (that is, jinn and humans) hear their (the angels') voice. (They say:) 'O people, come to your Lord! What is little and suffices is better than what is much and distracts.'"
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and he added these words: "Whenever the sun sets, two angels are sent alongside it who say aloud: O Allah, give the one who spends (in Your path) a replacement for it, and bring ruin upon (the wealth of) the one who does not spend (in Your path)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, but with these words: "O Allah, whoever spends, give him a replacement for it, and whoever does not spend, bring ruin upon (his wealth)." The narrators of Ahmad, and some of the narrators of al-Tabarani's chains in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, are the narrators of the Sahih.

Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Sa'id relates: (The narrator says: I think he narrated
this from his father; this doubt is on the part of the narrator Abu Abdullah.) He (that is, Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him)) says: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say on the pulpit: "What is little and suffices is better than what is much and distracts."
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Sadaqah bin al-Rabi', who is thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people, come to your Lord! What is little and suffices is better than what is much and distracts. O people, there are only two paths: a path of good and a path of evil; and the path of evil has not been made dearer to you than the path of good."
Al-Tabarani recorded it as a narration of Fadal from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Fadal is da'if (weak).
