Sayyiduna Amr bin Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him) transmits this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "None of you should wish for death, unless he has confidence in his deeds, in which case the ruling is different. When you see six things in Islam, then wish for death, and if your soul is in your hand, let it go: the shedding of blood going to waste, the rule of children, an abundance of police (enforcers), the rule of fools, the selling of judicial rulings, and the emergence of young people who will recite the Qur'an by singing it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a group of narrators whom I do not know.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should ever wish for death, nor pray for it before it comes to him, unless he has confidence in his deeds, in which case the ruling is different."
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, who is a mudallis and has weakness in him, though he has been declared trustworthy, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Abu al-Mu'alla narrates: Sayyiduna al-Hakam al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O plague, take me into your grip! One of the men present said to him: Why are you saying this? Have you not heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Beware! None of you should ever wish for death"? Sayyiduna al-Hakam al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I too have heard just as you have heard, but I wish to depart from the world before six things appear: the selling of judicial rulings, an abundance of police (enforcers), the rule of children, the shedding of blood, the violation of the rights of kinship, and the emergence at the end of time of people who will make the Qur'an into singing.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; I do not know the narrator named Abu al-Mu'alla, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
