Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said): "Caution is of no benefit against destiny, but supplication benefits both in what has already descended and in what has not yet descended. So, O servants of Allah, hold fast to supplication."
Ahmad and Tabarani recorded it; the narrator Shahr bin Hawshab did not hear from Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him), and the reports of Isma'il bin Ayyash from the people of the Hijaz are da'if (weak).

Hadith Takhrij«اخرجه الطبراني فى المعجم الكبير (103/20) اخرجه احمد فى المسند (234/5) ، أخرجه مسند أحمد برقم: 21539»
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Caution is of no avail against destiny, and supplication benefits both in what has already descended and in what has not yet descended. Supplication meets the affliction, and then the two keep wrestling with each other until the Day of Resurrection."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and al-Bazzar recorded a similar report; its chain contains a narrator, Zakariyya bin Manzur, whom Ahmad bin Salih al-Misri declared thiqah (trustworthy) and the majority declared da'if (weak); the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Caution is of no benefit against destiny, and supplication benefits so long as the decree has not descended. Affliction and supplication meet between the heaven and the earth, and then they keep wrestling with each other until the Day of Resurrection."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ibrahim bin Khuthaym bin Irak, who is matruk (abandoned).
(Allamah Haythami says:) I say: some hadiths of this kind have already passed in the book on destiny.
