Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us that when a ghoul (ghul) appears before us (the narrator is in doubt; perhaps the words are: when we see a ghoul), we should call out the adhan loudly.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy); however, by my reckoning, al-Hasan al-Basri did not hear from Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a ghoul (ghul) appears before you, call the adhan! For when Satan hears the adhan, he turns his back and runs away swiftly."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Its chain contains a narrator, Adi bin al-Fadl, who is matruk (abandoned).
