Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) being given glad tidings of martyrdom and Paradise

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a garden. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked permission to enter, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to the attendant): Give him permission and give him the glad tidings of Paradise. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked permission to enter, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to the attendant): Give him permission and give him the glad tidings of Paradise and martyrdom. Then Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) asked permission to enter, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Give him permission and give him the glad tidings of Paradise and martyrdom.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Ibrahim bin Umar bin Aban, who is da'if (weak). Authentic chains of this hadith have already preceded in the chapter on narrations concerning the virtues of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) wearing white clothes and asked: Is your garment new or washed? The narrator says: I do not know what Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) replied to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wear new clothes, live a praiseworthy life, and die as a martyr, and Allah Almighty will grant you the coolness of the eyes in this world and the Hereafter." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Imam Ibn Majah recorded it in abridged form, without the part about the coolness of the eyes.
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and after these words of the report, "May Allah Almighty grant you the coolness of the eyes in this world and the Hereafter," come these words: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! You too (may Allah Almighty grant you this). The narrators of both these reports are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: We were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) came, wearing a white shirt. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: O Umar! Is this shirt of yours new or washed? He replied: It is washed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Wear new clothes, live a praiseworthy life, die as a martyr, and Allah Almighty will envelop you in the coolness of the eyes in this world and the Hereafter.
Imam al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Jabir bin Zayd al-Ju'fi, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was walking in Paradise when a palace appeared before me. I asked: Jibril! Whose is this? I hoped it would be mine. Jibril said: It is Umar's. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: Then I walked on for a while, and another palace appeared which was better than the first palace. I asked: O Jibril! Whose is this? I hoped it would be mine. Jibril said: It is Umar's. In this palace there were maidens of Paradise (al-hur al-'in). (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, addressing Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him):) O Abu Hafs! Nothing kept me from entering this palace except your protective jealousy (ghayrah). The narrator says: Tears flowed from both eyes of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: I could never feel such jealousy with regard to you."

In one narration the words are: "A palace made of gold appeared."
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and Imam al-Tabarani recorded a similar narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat.

A similar narration is reported from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), except that in it are these words: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Umar is ghayur (protectively jealous), I am more protectively jealous than him, and Allah Almighty is more protectively jealous than us."
The narrators of Imam Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih. The additional words in the narration from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) he recorded from his teacher Miqdam bin Dawud, who is a da'if (weak) narrator; Ibn Daqiq al-Id mentioned that he has been declared trustworthy. The remaining narrators of this report have been declared trustworthy.

Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) is among the people of Paradise. Whatever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw while awake or in sleep was true, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw that I was in Paradise. I saw a house in it and asked: Whose is this? The angels said: It belongs to Umar bin al-Khattab."
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and the narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih.
