Kindness to animals

Sayyiduna Dirar bin al-Azwar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We gave the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a milch she-camel as a gift. The narrator says: I began milking her, and when I began to strain her, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not do that! Leave the caller of the milk."
Imam Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it; they say: "Leave the callers of the milk, and leave some for me."
They recorded it with several chains; the narrators of one of the chains are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Nuqadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Nuqadah, find me a she-camel that gives milk and can also be ridden, and that has not given birth." The narrator says: I went and searched for one among the livestock, but I did not find any she-camel that was both a milker and docile (or one that could also be ridden). Then I found such a she-camel among the camels of a paternal cousin of mine. I brought her to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Nuqadah, leave the callers of the udder!" (The narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) "Leave the callers of the milk."
Al-Tabarani recorded it.

In one narration the words are: "My paternal uncle sent some she-camels to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: 'Milk them!' I milked them, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'O Nuqadah, leave the callers of the milk.' The narrator says: So I left her teats in such a state that not all the milk had been drawn from them." Al-Tabarani recorded all these narrations in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. The chain of the first narration contains Ishaq al-Farwi, who is matruk (abandoned); the chain of the second contains Ya'qub bin Muhammad al-Zuhri, who is matruk (abandoned), along with a group of narrators who are not known.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was milking a goat, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O so-and-so, when you milk, leave some for its young, for it is the most dutiful of all animals."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. The narrators of al-Mu'jam al-Kabir are the narrators of the Sahih, except Abdullah bin Jubarah, who is thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Sawadah bin al-Rabi' narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) for something, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that I be given some camels. Then he said to me: "When you return home, instruct your people to take good care of the feeding of their young camels, and also tell them to keep their nails trimmed, so that they do not injure the udders of their animals with those nails while milking."
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and its chain is jayyid (good).

A narrator named al-Zubayr says: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): "Did you see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying while riding?" He replied: "Yes." The narrator says: Once a man came to him; he had bought a she-camel, and his aim was that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would supplicate for it. He spoke to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was praying. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent, and when he had finished with the salam, he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for him. (Al-Haythami says:) I say: This report is mentioned in the Sahih, but without the incident of the she-camel and the supplication for it.
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to pray Zuhr and found a she-camel tied up. He asked: "Where is the owner of this mount?" No one answered him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went inside the mosque and prayed, and when he had finished the prayer he found the she-camel tied up just as before. He asked: "Where is the owner of this mount?" Then that man answered him; the man said: "It is I, O Prophet of Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you not fear Allah Almighty concerning her? Either keep her hobbled, or let her go so that she may seek (her food) for herself."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is jayyid (good).
