One of the Companions narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day should fear Allah Almighty and honour his neighbour; and whoever believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day should fear Allah Almighty and honour his guest; and whoever believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day should speak the truth or else remain silent."
In one narration the words are: "Whoever believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day should honour his guest." These words are (said) three times. "Whoever believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day should treat his neighbour well." These words are also (said) three times. Ahmad recorded all of these narrations with different chains; the narrators of the first narration are the narrators of the "Sahih", except Alqamah bin Abdullah al-Muzani, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day should not harm his neighbour; and whoever believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day should speak good or else remain silent; and whoever believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day should honour his guest."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day should honour his guest; and whoever believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day should protect his neighbour; and whoever believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day should speak good or else remain silent."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, and the chains of both are hasan (good). (Al-Haythami says:) I say: The remaining hadiths on this subject will come in the chapter on hospitality.
