Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah al-Bajali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any person who comes to one of his relatives and asks him for some of the surplus that Allah Almighty has granted that other person, and that person is miserly towards him, Allah Almighty will bring out for him (the miser) on the Day of Resurrection a serpent from Hell called Shuja', which will be glaring at him, and it will be placed around his neck as a collar."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its chain is jayyid (good).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any man whose paternal cousin comes to him asking him for something of his surplus, and he refuses him, Allah Almighty will withhold His bounty from him (the one who refused) on the Day of Resurrection." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Then the narrator mentioned the complete hadith, which has already been given in the Book of Sales.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin al-Hasan al-Qirdawsi, whom al-Azdi declared da'if (weak) because of this hadith.
