It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best gathering is the one that is most spacious."
Al-Bazzar, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, recorded it. Its chain contains Mus'ab bin Thabit, and he is trustworthy; Ibn Hibban and others declared him thiqah (trustworthy), while Yahya bin Ma'in and others declared him da'if (weak). The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Mus'ab bin Shaybah narrates from his father that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you reaches the edge of a gathering, if there is room for him, let him sit there; and if not, let him look for whichever place he sees to be the most spacious, and sit there."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Part of humility is to be content with a lesser place in a gathering rather than its place of honor."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Ayyub bin Sulayman bin Abdullah bin Hadlam, and I do not know him, nor his father. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever a person comes to some people and they make room for him until he is pleased, it becomes binding upon Allah Almighty to be pleased with those people."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Sulayman bin Salamah al-Khaba'iri, who is matruk (abandoned).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Beware of these madhabih." The narrator says: This means the maharib. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Maharib means the prominent places in a gathering (i.e. the seat of the one presiding over the gathering). Ibn al-Athir mentioned it this way under the root h-r-b.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Abd al-Rahman bin Maghra', whom Ibn Hibban and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), and Ibn al-Madini declared him da'if (weak) in what he narrates from al-A'mash, and
this narration is not one of those.

Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Muslim bin Kaysan, who is matruk (abandoned) because his memory became confused (ikhtilat).
