It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Beware of these madhabih." The narrator says: This means the maharib. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Maharib means the prominent places in a gathering (i.e. the seat of the one presiding over the gathering). Ibn al-Athir mentioned it this way under the root h-r-b.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Abd al-Rahman bin Maghra', whom Ibn Hibban and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), and Ibn al-Madini declared him da'if (weak) in what he narrates from al-A'mash, and
this narration is not one of those.
