Khaythamah bin Abd al-Rahman narrates this statement of his father: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked my father: Is this your son? He replied: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What is his name? He replied: Hubab. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not name him Hubab, for Hubab is a devil; rather, he is Abd al-Rahman. After that the narrator mentioned the complete hadith, which has already passed in the chapter on spending.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains al-Sari bin Isma'il, who is matruk (abandoned).
