Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever asks (for something) before greeting with salam, do not answer him."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Harun bin Muhammad Abu al-Tayyib, who is kadhdhab (a liar).

Hadith Takhrij«اخرجه الطبراني فى المعجم الاوسط (431) ، أخرجه المعجم الأوسط للطبراني برقم: 431»
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Do not give permission (to enter) to one who does not first greet with salam."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Tirmidhi has recorded a hadith from this Companion, but not in this wording.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.

Hadith Takhrij«اخرجه ابو يعلى فى المسند (1809) ، أخرجه صحيح ابن خزيمة برقم: 1259»
Abd al-Malik bin Ata has reported this from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), with doubt on my part (as to whether) (the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said it): "The one seeking permission is not to be given permission until he first greets with salam."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that I have not found any report of the narrator Abd al-Malik having heard from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him). Ibn Hibban says: He narrated from Yazid bin al-Asamm.
