Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 12741

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The Hour will not be established until the greeting of salam is given only on the basis of acquaintance." (Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said:) "This man knew only me from among you, so he greeted only me."
Tabarani recorded it within a long hadith, which has already passed in the chapter on the signs of the Hour, as narrated by him and by others.
