Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "So-and-so has a date cluster in my orchard. He has caused me harm, and the place of his cluster is a burden on me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for that other man and said: "Sell me your cluster that is in so-and-so's orchard." He replied: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then gift it to me." He said: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then sell it to me in exchange for a cluster in Paradise." He said: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have not seen anyone more miserly than you, except the one who is miserly with the greeting of salam."
Ahmad and al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil; his hadith is hasan (good), though there is weakness in him. The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
