Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When two freed men become rulers, one a freed man of the Arabs and the other a freed man of the Romans, then great battles will take place at the hands of the two of them."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, in whom there is weakness, and the one who narrates from him is Muhammad bin Sufyan; I do not know him.

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Soon a man from Banu Umayyah will become a ruler in Egypt; then his rule will be overpowered, or his rule will be taken away from him. Then he will flee to the Romans, and then he will bring the Romans against the people of Islam, and that will be the beginning of the great battles."

Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Sannah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Islam will retreat to the area between Makkah and Madinah, just as a snake retreats to its hole. While they are in that state, the fire of the Arabs will flare up, and then every righteous person like those who have passed will come forth, and every best person of those who remain will come forth, until they and the Romans meet and fight one another."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abi Farwah, who is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There will be four peace treaties between you and the Romans, and the fourth time the treaty will be with a man from the family of Heraclius, and it will last seven years. At that point a man from the tribe of Abd al-Qays, whose name is al-Mustawrid bin Khaylan, submitted: O Messenger of Allah! Who will be the leader of the people at that time? He said: A man from my descendants, who will be forty years old. His face will be like a shining star, there will be a black mole on his right cheek, he will be wearing two white cloaks, as though he were one of the men of Banu Isra'il. He will rule for twenty years; he will bring out the treasures and conquer the lands of the polytheists."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Anbasah bin Abi Saghirah, who is da'if (weak).

Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakrah narrates: I came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) at his home. People were sitting around him, and no one was sitting on the bedding, so I sat on the bedding near his feet. A red-complexioned man with a large belly came and sat down. He asked: Who are you? I said: I am Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakrah. He said: Who is Abu Bakrah? Abd al-Rahman said: Do you remember the man who came down from the wall of the fortress of Ta'if and came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: Yes. Then he began narrating to us and said: "Soon the son of the lamb's offspring will come forth (he said this three times). I asked: What is meant by the lamb's offspring? He said: A man one of whose parents will be a devil. He will become the ruler of the Romans. He will bring a thousand thousand people, of whom five hundred thousand will come by land and five hundred thousand by sea. They will camp in a land called al-Amiq. He will say to his companions: Some of my remaining people are in your ship; then he will burn them with fire. Then he will say: Now neither Rome will remain yours nor Constantinople; whoever wishes may flee. Then the Muslims will seek help from one another, until the people of Aden will come to their aid. The Muslims will say to them: Join them and become one weapon. Then they will fight for a month, until blood flows up to the hooves of the horses. At that time every believer will receive double the reward of those before him, except for what the Companions of Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) receive; their case is different. When the last day of the month comes, Allah Almighty will say: Today I will draw My sword, help My religion and take revenge on My enemy. Then Allah Almighty will turn the tide against them, and Allah Almighty will rout them, until Constantinople is conquered. Their commander will say: There will be no misappropriation of spoils today. While they are distributing gold and silver, filling their shields with it, an announcement will be made among them that the Dajjal has come behind you in your lands. So they will leave whatever is in their hands and kill the Dajjal."
Al-Bazzar recorded it as a mawquf report (stopping at the Companion). Its chain contains Ali bin Zayd, who is hasan al-hadith (fair in hadith). The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
