Hafs bin Maysarah al-Qurashi narrates: My mother narrated to me from her mother
this narration; her mother was a servant of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She narrates: Once a puppy entered the house, went under the bed and died there. Some days passed for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during which no revelation came down to him. He said: "O Khawlah! Look into what has happened in the house of the Messenger of Allah because of which Jibril has not come to me. Has something new occurred in the house of the Messenger of Allah?" I said: "No day better than this day of ours has ever come upon us." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put on his cloak and went out. I thought: "It would be good if I swept the house and swept under the bed as well." When I swept, there was something heavy under it. I kept sweeping until I got it out, and it was a dead puppy. I picked it up with my hand and threw it beyond the wall. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, and his blessed beard was trembling; whenever revelation came down upon him, trembling would overtake him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Khawlah! Give me something to cover myself." Then Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "By the forenoon, and by the night when it spreads; your Lord has neither forsaken you nor is He displeased."
Tabarani recorded it, and I do not know the woman named Umm Hafs.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The things that would be opened up for his Ummah after him were presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); they were presented one after another. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was pleased by this, so Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "Soon your Lord will give you so much that you will be pleased." So Allah Almighty will give the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a thousand palaces in Paradise, and in each palace he will have as many servants and youths as he wishes.
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat.

One of his narrations has these words: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The things that would be opened up for my Ummah after me were presented to me, and I was pleased by them. So Allah Almighty revealed this verse: 'And the Hereafter is better for you than the first (life).'" Then the narrator mentioned the hadith as before. Its chain contains a narrator, Mu'awiyah bin Abi al-Abbas, whom I do not know; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), and the chain of al-Mu'jam al-Kabir is hasan (good).
