Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: This verse was revealed concerning Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him): "And no one has with him any favour to be repaid; (he did it) only seeking the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High, and he (that is, his Lord) will soon be pleased with him."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Mus'ab bin Thabit, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy) and a group of scholars declared da'if (weak). The teacher of al-Bazzar was not named by him.
