Ibrahim al-Nakha'i relates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse: "When the call is made for prayer on Friday, then hasten to the remembrance of Allah." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If I were to read this verse as 'run', I would go so fast that my cloak would fall off. The narrator says: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to read these words: "Go."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; the narrator Ibrahim did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), and the narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).

Qatadah relates: In the juz' (copy) of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) the words are: "Go to the remembrance of Allah." This is like this statement of Allah Almighty: "Indeed, your striving is of various kinds."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; Qatadah did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), but the narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) relates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the sermon on Friday when Dihyah bin Khalifah arrived (at the market) to sell his goods. The people who were in the mosque left, and only a few remained, while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing (delivering the sermon). So Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "And when they saw some trade or amusement, they rushed off to it and left you standing."
Al-Bazzar recorded it from his teacher Abdullah bin Shabib, who is da'if (weak).
