Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I was eating with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from one bowl when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came by. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) invited him too, and he also began to eat. His finger touched my finger, and he said: "Ah!" or he said: "Oh! If my advice regarding you women were followed, no eye would ever see you women." Then the verses concerning (the command of) the hijab were revealed.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Musa bin Abi Kathir, who is thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the verses concerning the command of the hijab were revealed, I came and began to enter as I used to enter before, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O my son! Now stay outside."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: A hadith from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) is mentioned in the "Sahih" other than this hadith.
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Salm al-Alawi, who is da'if (weak).
