Zirr states: I used to recite from the mushaf to Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him). When he came to this verse: "And He has made for you, from your wives, sons and grandchildren (hafadah)," Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: Do you know what is meant by hafadah? I said: A man's close attendants. He said: No! They are the in-laws (akhtan).

In one narration the words are: I replied: Yes, it refers to those who are his children and his children's children. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: No, it refers to relatives by marriage.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Asim bin Abi al-Nujud, who is hasan in hadith, though there is weakness in him; the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
