Amr bin Rafi', the freed slave of Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates that in the time of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) he used to write copies of the Qur'an. He narrates: Once Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) had me write a copy of the Qur'an for her and said: "When you reach this verse of Surah al-Baqarah, do not write it until you first bring the writing to me; I will dictate it to you as I memorised this verse from the blessed tongue of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." The narrator narrates: When I reached that particular place, I brought the sheet on which I was to write that verse, and Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Write: 'Guard the prayers and the middle prayer (which means) the Asr prayer, and stand before Allah Almighty in humble devotion.'"
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates regarding this statement of Allah Almighty, (Allah Almighty says:) "And stand before Allah Almighty in humble devotion." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Previously, people used to talk during the prayer. A man's servant would come to him while he was praying, and he would speak with the servant about some need of his, so the people were forbidden from speaking (during the prayer).
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
