It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man's being killed while bound is an expiation for his previous sins."
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains Salih bin Musa bin Talhah, who is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Being killed while bound (in captivity) does not pass by any sin except that it wipes it out."
Al-Bazzar recorded it and said: To our knowledge, this is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
only through this chain; and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

It is reported about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said, regarding a person who commits offences liable to the prescribed punishments (hudud) and is then killed deliberately, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When killing comes, everything (that is, every sin) is wiped out.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator who is not named, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Al-Hasan al-Basri narrates: Ziyad used to hunt down the partisans of Ali and kill them. When this reached Sayyiduna Imam Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both), he said: "O Allah, grant him a natural death, for being killed is an expiation."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
