عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ; أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ كَأَنِّي فِي دِرْعٍ حَصِينَةٍ ، وَرَأَيْتُ بَقَرًا تُنْحَرُ ، فَأَوَّلْتُ أَنَّ الدِّرْعَ الْحَصِينَةَ الْمَدِينَةُ ، وَأَنَّ الْبَقَرَ نَفَرٌ ، وَاللَّهُ خَيْرٌ " ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ أَصْحَابُهُ : " لَوْ أَنَّا أَقَمْنَا بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، فَإِنْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْنَا فِيهَا قَاتَلْنَاهُمْ " ، فَقَالُوا : وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا دُخِلَ عَلَيْنَا فِيهَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، فَكَيْفَ يُدْخَلُ عَلَيْنَا فِيهَا فِي الْإِسْلَامِ ؟ ! فَقَالَ : " شَأْنُكُمْ إِذًا " ، فَلَبِسَ لَأْمَتَهُ قَالَ : فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ : رَدَدْنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - رَأْيَهُ ، فَجَاءُوا فَقَالُوا : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ، شَأْنُكَ إِذًا ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لِنَبِيٍّ إِذَا لَبِسَ لَأْمَتَهُ أَنْ يَضَعَهَا حَتَّى يُقَاتِلَ " ، رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw in a dream that I was wearing a strong coat of armour, and I saw a cow being slaughtered. I interpreted the strong coat of armour as Madinah, and the cow as some people; and Allah is the One who brings good." The narrator says: He said to his companions: "If we stay in Madinah and they enter upon us in it, we will fight them." The people said: "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah! They never entered upon us in our city in the days of ignorance (Jahiliyyah), so how can they come to us in Islam?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then do as you wish!" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put on his armour. The Ansar said (to one another): "Have we not rejected the opinion of the Messenger of Allah?" Then they came and said: "O Prophet of Allah! Do as you see fit." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not proper for a prophet, once he has put on his armour, to take it off before fighting."

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : لَمَّا نَزَلَ بِالنَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ : " إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ فِي الْمَنَامِ سَيْفِيَ ذَا الْفَقَارِ انْكَسَرَ ، وَهِيَ مُصِيبَةٌ ، وَرَأَيْتُ بَقَرًا تُذْبَحُ ، وَهِيَ مُصِيبَةٌ ، وَرَأَيْتُ عَلَيَّ دِرْعِي وَهِيَ مَدِينَتُكُمْ ، لَا يَصِلُونَ إِلَيْهَا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو شَيْبَةَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ . قُلْتُ : وَلَهُ طَرِيقٌ فِي التَّعْبِيرِ رَوَاهَا الْبَزَّارُ أَبَيْنُ مِنْ هَذِهِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو شَيْبَةَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ . قُلْتُ : وَلَهُ طَرِيقٌ فِي التَّعْبِيرِ رَوَاهَا الْبَزَّارُ أَبَيْنُ مِنْ هَذِهِ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encamped on the day of Uhud, with Abu Sufyan and his companions on the other side, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his companions: "I saw in a dream that my sword Dhu al-Fiqar broke, and this indicates some calamity. I saw a cow being slaughtered, and this too is a sign of some calamity. And I saw that I was wearing my coat of armour, and that means this Madinah of yours; if Allah wills, they will not be able to reach it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Abu Shaybah Ibrahim bin Uthman, who is matruk (abandoned). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This narration has another route, which al-Bazzar recorded, and which will come in the chapter on dream interpretation; it is clearer than this one.

وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ كَأَنِّي مُرْدِفٌ كَبْشًا ، وَكَأَنَّ ضَبَّةَ سَيْفِيَ انْكَسَرَتْ ، فَأَوَّلْتُ أَنِّي أَقْتُلُ كَبْشَ الْقَوْمِ ، وَأَوَّلْتُ ضَبَّةَ سَيْفِي قَتْلَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ عِتْرَتِي " . فَقُتِلَ حَمْزَةُ ، وَقَتَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - طَلْحَةَ ، وَكَانَ صَاحِبَ اللِّوَاءِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، وَالْبَزَّارُ وَأَحْمَدُ وَلَمْ يُكْمِلْهُ ، وَفِيهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ وَهُوَ سَيِّئُ الْحِفْظِ ، وَقَدْ جَاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ طَرِيقِهِ كَمَا تَرَاهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw in a dream as if I had a ram riding behind me, and as if the edge of my sword had broken. I interpreted it to mean that I would kill an important man of the enemy, and I interpreted the edge of my sword as a man of my family being killed." So Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) killed a man named Talhah, who was their standard-bearer.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and these are his words; al-Bazzar and Ahmad also recorded it, but they did not record it in full. Its chain contains Ali bin Zayd, who has a poor memory; it has also been narrated through another chain, as you can see. The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
